PRATTVILLE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY ELEMENTARY ART AND MUSIC

It is the focus of the visual arts program at PCA to encourage artistic creativity and increase knowledge in the arts at each grade level. The educational goals of this program include an understanding of the basic elements of art, as well as, an appreciation of art history. Through a combination of projects that focus on improving skills, to artistic endeavors that study the styles of the great masters, students will experience a variety of techniques and creative challenges. All in all, the program offers a well rounded support for all students to participate and fully learn appreciation for visual art and its impact on the world around us. Among the greatest importance of the PCA art program is to inspire creative thinking and promote confidence and individuality in each student.  All students PreK3-6th grade go to Art once a week.

In music, students will work on building a pyramid to musical success.  All ages learn the importance of music theory, correct breathing and diction as well as music terminology.  These skills get us on our way to singing as a group and/or playing certain instruments such as hand bells and the recorder.  We also spend time on music appreciation and discerning the sound of different instruments found in an orchestra.  We try to incorporate a lot of fun activities to enhance our learning such as Music Olympics and other exciting games.  My hope is that your child will learn to enjoy and explore music in my class as well as years to come.  All students PreK3 through 6th grade go to Music once a week.
