Going into 4th, 5th, & 6th grade

This year, the summer reading for students going into 4th, 5th, and 6th grade is required.  The students are required to read 3 books over the summer.  The list includes one fiction book, one book of the Bible, and a book of their choice of either an autobiography, biography, nonfiction, or poetry.

There is required assignment for each of these books listed and will be due the first day of school.  The assignments can be done on notebook paper.  It should be written neatly in cursive with the child’s name and the title of the book in the top right corner.

Assignments:

For #1, students should write a five sentence summary by chapter.  The chapter should be labeled on the notebook paper.  A summary retells what happened in the chapter in your own words.   Each sentence should start with a capital letter and end in correct punctuation.

For #2, students should write two paragraphs about their book of the Bible.  The first paragraph needs to be ten sentences retelling what happened in that book.  The second paragraph should be atleast seven sentences.  This paragraph should tell what you learned, how you saw God working, or what questions you have now after reading that book.  Each sentence should start with a capital letter and end in correct punctuation.

For #3, students should write a ten sentence paragraph about what you read and what you learned.  Each sentence should start with a capital letter and end in correct punctuation.
