PRATTVILLE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY SIXTH GRADE
In sixth grade students are prepared to enter middle school. There is a strong focus in strengthening the foundational knowledge in all subject areas, but also in organization of school work and assignments, working independently, and personal responsibility. Classes provide differentiated instruction to best meet students where they are and give them what they need. The students will have the opportunity to attend the Montgomery Symphony and atleast one play at the Davis Theatre. Sixth graders are the leaders in the elementary school and are given chances to serve and be examples to other students. Our main goal is to incorporate Christian principles into all aspects of the curriculum.
SIXTH GRADE CURRICULUM

Bible: Bible classes use Christian Schools International curriculum: The House of Israel. The Bible curriculum focuses on the study of Adam, Jacob, Joseph, and the twelve tribes of Israel.

Students will study the scientific method and learn how to differientiate between qualitative and quantiative. How math and science are integrated is also discussed and how one is dependent on the others. Classes are taught through problem solving, hands on activities, and labs. The science classes go to the Challenger Center for a real world scenario trip to Mars.
Social Studies: Sixth grade history focuses on changes over time from the Reconstruction to Present Day. Classes study how different people and events shape our civilization and make it what it is today. Students are taught America's journey from a young country to a world power, and from an isolationist mindset to a global leader.

Math: Sixth grade math uses Glencoe-McGraw Hill curriculum. The main focus is pre-algebraic concepts. Students will study the relationship between integers and how they are used to solve multi-step problems. Math is shown to be used in all areas of our day to day lives and has real world application.
