3 YEAR OLD PRE-KINDERGARTEN CURRICULUM
The curriculum used in our PreK3 program is the Adventures In Learning Curriculum. It is a “comprehensive curriculum” with forty topic areas in nine focus groups. This thematically outlined curriculum will start each topic with a familiar children’s book. Here is a brief overview of the nine focus groups we cover throughout the year: Families, Transitions/Changes (Hellos and Goodbyes), All about Me, Communities, Health and Safety, Physical and Earth Sciences, Animals, Things that Grow (Plant Life), and Travel. There will also be a few special themed weeks throughout the year. The following weeks are added into our year: Nursery Rhymes, Counting, Beginning of America (Thanksgiving), and Christmas Around the World. Each theme will be broken down into Science, Language, and Math lessons that apply to that theme. We will also be studying Bible lessons and characters throughout the year that will coincide with the letter of the week or the theme for the week.

DAILY SCHEDULE
A typical day in the PreK3 classroom will start with our morning work which is done at tables. After all the children have arrived and the morning work is completed, we will begin our morning circle time. This will include our letter of the day, days of the week, calendar, weather, and a discussion of what we will be doing for that day. After circle time, we have our center time where the children are allowed to freely play and explore all centers. During this time  the teachers can  call small groups or individuals to a table for an activity with me. Classes also have a morning recess where one of the aides comes to take the children outside or to the gym for 20 minutes. We eat lunch in our classroom at 10:50; however, the children are allowed to order from the cafeteria. We have nap for two hours everyday. The children are not required to sleep, but must remain quiet so others can sleep. After nap they have a snack time and another recess period. Once the children come back from recess it is time for car call.
