
PRATTVILLE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY FOURTH GRADE
FOURTH GRADE CURRICULUM

Bible: Students will use Christian Schools International curriculum Record of God's Nation. The lessons concentrate on the kings and prophets of Israel and Judah through the rebuilding of Jerusalem.

Reading/Language Arts: Reading, Language Arts, and Grammar are taught using McMillan-McGraw Hill Treasures curriculum. Goals for the students are to develop a deep understanding in reading comprehension skills, vocabulary, and grammar by providing students with whole group and small group instruction and activities. Students are involved in literacy centers and activities. Trade and chapter books are used to supplement the curriculum. Opportunities and strategies to become better skilled writers throughout all areas of the curriculum.

Science: Fourth grade science is taught using McGraw Hill science curriculum. Life, earth, and physical science are all taught. Throughout the course, reading comprehension, writing skills, and research projects are all taught. Students will also look at the scientific method.
Social Studies: Fourth graders study Alabama history. This class is divided into four categories: history, geography, political science, and economics. Students will take a deep look into Alabama and all aspects of our state.

Math: Mathematics is taught using Pearson EnVision Math curriculum. Classes involve the introduction and practice of number sense, geometry, measurement, multiplication, division, problem solving, and rational numbers. Students are taught to see math as authentic and meaningful. Much of the class is taught through problem solving.

Stephanie Alexander Fourth Grade Stephanie Alexander is teaching 4th grade Math, Science and Alabama History. She is originally from Hoover, Alabama and has a bachelors degree from Auburn in Psychology and a masters degree from Samford University in Elementary Education. She is married to DJ and they have twins that attend PCA. Stephanie enjoys running and taking vacations with her family. What she likes about teaching at PCA is the family feeling and the freedom to be a disciple for Christ. Her favorite Bible verse is Phillippians 4:6-7, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." |

Monica Taylor Fourth Grade Monica Taylor is teaching Reading, Language Arts, and Bible. She grew up in Birmingham and has a bachelors degree in Childhood Education from AUM. She is married with three children. She enjoys working out, running, and reading. Monica fell in love with PCA when her daughter started attending here. She loves the family feel and nice friends. Her favorite Bible verse is Phillippians 3:10-11, "I want to know Christ and power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his suffering, becoming like him in his death, and, so, somehow to attain to the resurrection from the dead." |
