Prattville Christian Academy seeks to enroll students who can perform successfully through a challenging college-preparatory academic program and, together with families encourage the growth of each student through spiritual, intellectual, athletic and social activities. Students are admitted based on application information, academic review, recommendations and personal interviews. PCA admits students without regard to race, color, nationality or ethnic origin.

A. The application process begins with the Application.

Application for Admission (New Students Only)

  1. The application is reviewed by the Admissions Secretary for completeness.
  2. A non-refundable registration fee is collected with the application
  3. Upon receipt of a completed application and registration fee, the admissions secretary requests the following from parents of all students applying for 2-12 grade:
    1. Last two years report cards
    2. Copies of standardized testing results
  4. The admissions secretary forwards a written request previously attended school(s) to request report cards, standardized testing results, and disciplinary records.

B. Following receipt of all required paperwork, an Admissions Test is scheduled for students entering grades Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st grade.

  1. The test is administered by a kindergarten or first grade teacher.
  2. The teacher administering the test makes a recommendation for admissions on the application package and specifies which class the student will attend if accepted.
  3. The counselor reviews the application package in detail to determine eligibility to attend. Behavioral qualifications and any special needs requirements are emphasized during this review.
  4. The president reviews the application package in detail and reviews the recommendations from previous reviewers to determine eligibility to attend.
  5. Parents and students may be called as part of this review when questions arise.

C. Following receipt of all required paperwork, an Academic Review is completed for students entering grades 2-12.

  1. The academic chairperson for the grade student is entering reviews the application package in detail to determine eligibility to attend and which class the student will be admitted into. Academic qualifications are emphasized during this review.
  2. The counselor reviews the application package in detail to determine eligibility to attend. Behavioral qualifications and any special needs requirements are emphasized during this review.
  3. The president reviews the application package in detail and reviews the recommendations from previous reviewers to determine eligibility to attend.
  4. Parents and students may be called as part of the academic review when questions arise.

D. Following the academic review, an Admissions Interview is conducted for students entering grades 6-12

  1. The counselor interviews students with parents to determine motivation to attend and issues that may affect eligibility.
  2. The counselor interviews students with parents to determine any other issues that must be considered prior to admittance.
  3. The president reviews the recommendations of the counselor and may interview the student and family if records indicated issues to be addressed.

E. Following admissions testing, the academic review and the admissions interview if required, the president makes a final determination on admission.

  1. Parents of students are notified of acceptance or non-acceptance by written letter developed by the admissions secretary and signed by the president.

F. If the decision is made to admit the student, the Enrollment Process begins.

  1. All remaining forms are completed.
  2. A meeting is conducted between parents and the office director to finalize contracts and payment schedules.
  3. Teachers are notified of the acceptance and start date. An admissions process is completed y the teachers to ensure readiness for the student.

Admissions

  • Students enrolling at PCA and their parent(s) agree to abide by the policies and educational philosophy practiced at PCA.
  • Parents must submit properly completed application forms, registration fees and required documentation along with registration fees.
  • Pre-Pre-K applicants must turn 4years of age between September 2nd and December 31st of the year they are admitted and must be potty-trained.
  • Pre-K applicants must be 4 years of age on or before September 1st.
  • Kindergarten applicants must be 5 years of age on or before September 1st.
  • First Grade applicants must be 6 years of age on or before September 1st.
  • Students applying for Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st grade must complete a diagnostic evaluation selected by the school. The school administration determines the satisfactory score for acceptance.
  • Students applying for second grade through twelfth grade are either accepted or denied acceptance based on the following: evaluation of the student's academic and discipline records from the previous school, standardized test scores, and the understanding and acceptance of the policies and regulations. The school administration determines the satisfactory score for acceptance.
  • Students applying for sixth grade through twelfth grade will be interviewed by the school counselor and may be interviewed by the school president prior to acceptance.
  • PCA is an academically rigorous college preparatory program. Students having significant academic difficulty in their current school are not qualified for application.
  • Students who have been, or are currently pending, suspension, alternative school, or expulsion are not qualified for application.
  • All enrollment paperwork and tuition contracts must be completed prior to the student beginning school.
