School Improvement Plan Completed

The School Improvement Plan for PCA is complete. For the past 1 ½ years faculty, staff, parents, students, and community members have strived to establish a plan to improve student achievement and learning. In the Fall of 2004  the process of school improvement began by developing a profile of our student body, our parents, and our community. The profile enabled PCA to develop a list of beliefs that drive our instruction and how the school is operated. The list of beliefs along with our mission statement guides the school toward the ongoing desire of inspiring excellence.

Once the list of beliefs were created and the mission statement reviewed to ensure all stakeholders were in agreement with them, PCA strove to design 3 broad targets areas for our students to achieve by the time they exit the 12th grade. These were developed during the spring and fall of 2005. These broad areas identified areas of limitation in student learning PCA will address over the next 5 years.

The fourth part of the School Improvement Plan involved identifying areas of limitation in the work of the school on behalf of the students. These limitations were identified and communicated via email to parents. After identifying areas needing improvement concerning student learning and organizational effectiveness, PCA developed 3 school-wide goals for improvement based upon input from our stakeholders. Below are the goals that PCA will strive to accomplish over the next 5 years.

School-Wide Goals for PCA:

(1)   Personal and Social Responsibility- Students will demonstrate increased levels of respect toward faculty, staff, and property.

(2)   Expanding and Integrating Knowledge- Students will demonstrate integrated knowledge in applying research and presentation skills.

(3)   Thinking and Reasoning Skills- Students will improve cognitive learning by applying higher order thinking skills.
