We seek to prepare qualified students for the future without
reference to race or national origin. Jesus taught and lived
unconditional love for all people, regardless of their ethnic
backgrounds. That is our goal at PCA.
Our Teachers
Caring, State-Certified Teachers are foremost among the many
benefits that a PCA education can provide. PCA has been blessed
to attract the interest of some of the most talented and devoted
Christian teachers in this area. From this group, we have chosen
those teachers whose hearts and minds were most completely
focused on helping children to obtain maximum results not only
in the classroom, but also in life. Much has been asked of this
faculty, and they have delivered every time. With a tremendous
combination of youth and experience, we believe that our
teachers are second to none.
Student Progress
Our Students' Progress is one of our highest priorities. Our
teachers are not as concerned with where a student is, as with
where that student is going and the efforts being made to get
there. Report cards are sent to parents through an online
program called Edline whereby parents may access students’
grades anytime. Standardized tests help evaluate progress in key
areas. Our teachers closely monitor each student's progress and
conduct, and can be expected to send parents interim reports and
request periodic parent-teacher conferences. These additional
points of communication are not only to notify parents of
problems, but may also be to provide encouragement or share
joyful news. Either way, parent-teacher communication is a
valuable tool for our teachers, who deeply appreciate and share
in parents' concern for their children.
PCA has lower pupil/teacher ratios than most schools in the
area. Every attempt is be made to maintain the following PCA
standards:
K-4
14/1
Kindergarten
16/1
Grades 1-6 18/1
Grades 7-12 28/1
In the elementary school, certified teachers use the best
and most updated curriculum to provide advanced courses of study
that are geared toward gifted students. Periodic testing
throughout the year and the SAT test given to each grade, each
year, help PCA gauge the effectiveness of education for each
student. Frequent communication with parents through Internet
resources and phone calls ensure a team effort geared toward
student success. In addition to core subjects, all elementary
students receive physical education once per day and Spanish,
art, computer, library and music once per week with auxiliary
teachers.
In the secondary school, highly qualified certified
teachers use the best and most updated curriculum to provide
advanced courses of study that are geared toward preparing
students for the ACT testing and college success. All students
are required to take the ACT prior to graduation.
PCA offers advanced placement for students in English and
History. Students in 11-12th grade are eligible for dual
enrollment courses through Faulkner University and the
University of West Alabama. PCA also offers concurrent
enrollment through Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ for
all 11th and 12th grade students. Credits earned through dual
enrollment and concurrent enrollment are transferable to any
college or university.
Students attending PCA from 9-12 grades may earn a Standard
Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Advanced Honors Diploma. (See
secondary school program of studies for details.
Computer
Technology
Computer Technology provides PCA students with opportunities
that are unparalleled in the Autauga-Elmore area. We are pleased
to offer the "Futurekids" curriculum, whereby students are
guided by a specially trained, state-certified instructor in
areas such as word processing, internet education and research,
database creation, and publishing. This unique program is
designed to enhance learning for students at every level, in
conjunction with the academic curriculum set forth by the
teachers, who have also received specialized "Futurekids"
training. The program is offered on a weekly basis, and the
computer lab is also available during the week for individual
enrichment, composition and research. Dr. Mac Adkins, a member
of the PCA Board of Directors, provides leadership in the area
of the integration of technology into the curriculum. Dr.
Adkins was one of the authors of
The Alabama Course of Study: Technology which is used by
all public schools in the state of Alabama.
Field
Trips
Field trips are an important part of each child's educational
experience. At Prattville Christian Academy (PCA), great effort
is made to expose children to a variety of educational
opportunities located just beyond the walls of the school right
here in our area. With greatly appreciated help from parents, we
have been able to bring to life concepts of science, history,
and even mathematics, filling PCA students with a sense of
wonder and adventure not gained in any classroom.
Conclusion
Our Hope is that you share our excitement as we anticipate the
continued growth of
Prattville
Christian Academy for the 2008-2009 school year and for years to come. We are looking for students from families who
share our dreams for this community and are willing to join us
in our quest to make those dreams a reality. If you are
