  Patty Benson

Pre-K

Patty Benson has been teaching at Prattville Christian Academy off and on for 10 years.  P.C.A. is fortunate to have her as one of our PreK grade teachers.  She earned a B.S. Elementary Education from Faulkner University .  Next spring, Patty plans to go back to school and study for a masters in elementary education.  Patty hails from Montgomery with her husband and two children.  Some of Patty’s hobbies include shopping, cooking, reading and spending time with her family.  The Christian environment is what Patty likes about P.C.A.  Her favorite Bible verse is Romans 8:28.  “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” 

       
  Kim Hardy

Pre-K

  Kim has been teaching Pre-Kindergarten at Prattville Christian Academy for the last 5 years.  She is working hard and almost finished with her degree.  Kim was born in Tennessee but raised in Alabama .  She is married and has two children.  Her hobbies are reading, outdoor activities and spending time with her family.  The Christian environment is what Kim likes about teaching at P.C.A.  Her favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6.  “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

       
  Nancy Rambo

Kindergarten

  Nancy is back at Prattville Christian Academy for the 2009-2010 school year.  This is her 4th year to teach Kindergarten.  She earned her B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Auburn University .  Nancy is married with two children and is from Montgomery , Alabama .  Her favorite hobby is reading.  The best thing Nancy likes about teaching at P.C.A. is being able to incorporate God/Christ in her classroom.  She also loves being in a Christian atmosphere.  Nancy ’s favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13.  “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

       
  Kathy Moore

Kindergarten

Prattville Christian Academy is thrilled to have Kathy Moore teaching Kindergarten. She holds a Masters in Early Childhood Education and is Nationally Board Certified.  Kathy has been married 27 years and has three children and a son-in-law.  Her hobbies are scrap booking, reading, family trips, decorating at her church, and teaching puppet ministry.  Kathy feels very blessed to be at PCA.  She likes knowing she is where God wants her to be and is enjoying being around other Christians.  Kathy has two favorite Bible verses.  Philippians 4:13.  “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”  Matthew 6:26.  “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not much more valuable than they?”

       
  Amy Hightower

First Grade

Amy Hightower has been at Prattville Christian Academy for five years.  This school year 2009-2010, she is teaching 1st grade.  She graduated from Auburn University Montgomery with a B.S. in Early Childhood Education.  Amy lives in Montgomery with her husband of 24 years and has three children.  She enjoys reading and baking.  Amy loves being able to share God’s work with the children.  She also loves the family atmosphere where everyone knows everyone.  Luke 1:37 is her favorite Bible verse.  “For nothing is impossible with God.”

       
  Teresa Stacy

First Grade

Teresa Stacy is teaching a Prattville Christian Academy First Grade this 2009-2010 school year.  She is returning to P.C.A. for the 7th year.  Teresa earned a B.S. in Childhood Education from Auburn University Montgomery.  She has been married for 38 years and has three sons (and one daughter-in-law).  Teresa calls Prattville , Alabama her home.  Her hobbies include reading, playing the piano and Auburn football games.  Teresa loves P.C.A. and working with Christian people.  She also loves the freedom to incorporate her faith and love for the Lord in her teaching all day long.  Her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13.  “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

       
  Nancy Dicks

Second Grade

  Nancy is teaching one of our 2nd grade classes.  She earned Bachelors, Masters and Education Specialist Degrees in Elementary Education from Auburn University Montgomery.  Nancy lives in Prattville with her husband and two children.  Some of her hobbies are walking, reading and spending time with her family.  What Nancy likes about teaching at P.C.A. is being constantly reminded that we are here to glorify God.  Her favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6.  “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.  Acknowledge Him in all your ways, and He will make your paths straight.”

       
  Brigitte McCawley

Second Grade

Brigitte McCawley is thrilled to be back at P.C.A. for the 3nd year to teach 2nd grade – self contained.  Brigitte graduated from Faulkner State Communication College – A.S. in Secondary Education, University of Mobile – B.S. in Early childhood Education and University of Mobile – B. S. in Elementary Education.  She is from Daphne, Alabama ( Baldwin County ).  She is married with two children, and three grown step-children (who have two children). She loves being called ‘Me Me’!  Brigitte enjoys writing poetry, working with children and youth, sporting activities (racing) with my family, hunting and fishing, and football (roll tide!) What Brigitte likes about teaching at P.C.A. is the freedom to integrate God’s work and biblical principles into daily living and teaching.  It is awesome to have the freedom and the calling go to help our youth grow spiritually and academically.  Her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13.  “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Fourth Grade

Marilyn Greer is teaching 4th grade Science, Social Studies, Math and Bible for Prattville Christian Academy 2009-2010.  He earned a B.A. Elementary Education from Harding University in Arkansas .  She has been teaching at P.C.A. for four years.  Marilyn is from Montgomery , Alabama and lives there with her husband.  All three of her children have graduated from P.C.A.  In her spare time, Marilyn enjoys gardening, reading, travel and decorating.  Marilyn loves teaching at P.C.A. because she is surrounded by Godly people who share the common goal of glorifying Him by serving students and their families.  Her favorite Bible part is Psalm 78.

  Patricia Dean

Sixth Grade

Patricia Dean is returning to P.C.A. for the 2009-2010 school year to teach 6th grade Reading and Language Arts after being a substitute teacher in 2008  in 5th grade.  She is a graduate of the University of Memphis with a B.S. in Elementary Education and a M.Ed. in Guidance and Counseling.  Pat has been married for 35 years with two sons.   She enjoys spending time with her family and reading.  Pat says what she likes about P.C.A. is the family atmosphere and that she can speak freely about Christ.   Her favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 40:31 “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

       
  Melodee Sweeney

Sixth Grade

 

Prattville Christian Academy is happy to have Melodee Sweeney join our faculty to teach 6th grade Science and Math.  From Valdosta State University she earned a B.A. in History.  She also earned a Professional Teaching Certificate in 5-9 Integrated Curriculum and 6-12 Social Services.  Melodee came from Houston , Texas with her husband and three children.  She enjoys reading, cooking, singing and working on her M.S. degree in Space Studies.  Melodee likes the family-like atmosphere at PCA.  She says “It’s not like coming to work.”  Her favorite Bible verse is Psalms 1:1.  “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.”

       
  Allen Stuart

Elementary PE

Allen will be teaching Physical Education K – 6th grade at Prattville Christian Academy this year.  He earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from Auburn University Montgomery.  Allen came from Union Springs , Alabama .  He is married with one child.  His hobbies are watching sports “Roll Tide”, golf, fishing and watching movies.  The best thing that Allen likes about teaching at PCA is the faculty and staff.  I Samuel 17:45-50, the David and Goliath story is Allen’s favorite Bible story.

  Cindy Mitchell

Media Specialist

We are thrilled to have Cindy Mitchell at P.C.A. for the second year to run our growing library.  She graduated from Brenau University , B.S. in Early Childhood, Master’s in E.C.E. currently attending University of West Alabama for the Master’s in the Library Media.  Cindy was raised in Greenville , South Carolina , but has been at P.C.A. for one year.  She’s been married for 18 years and they have twin boys.  Cindy enjoys reading.  What she like about teaching at P.C.A. is a relaxed and welcome atmosphere.  This is her favorite Bible Verse, Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.  “There is a time for everything and a season for vary activity under heaven…”

       
  Amy Jolley

Teacher's Aide

Amy Jolley is returning for her 6th year at P.C.A. to be a teacher's aide. She graduated college from Faulkner University in 1996 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.  Amy lives in Clanton with her husband, Lance and her daughter, Claire Ellen and stepdaughter, Megan.  Her hobbies include computer, photography, and traveling, spending time with friends and family.  Most of all she enjoys being a mom and wife.  Amy likes the way everyone works together at P.C.A. toward a common goal – To glorify God in all we do.  The school teachers and administration are very organized.  Amy has so many favorite Bible verses, but she did give us three (and in this order.)  Galatians 6:9 -   “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lost heart.”  Romans 12:2 – “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”  Romans 8:28 – “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Lori Roberson has been associated with Prattville Christian Academy for 10 years.  This 2008-2009 school year, she is teaching Technology for Pre-K to 6th grade.  She is from Jonesboro , Georgia and came to Faulkner University , Alabama to school, earning a B.S. in Elementary Education.  Lori is married to Jason and they have three adorable children.  Her hobbies are her children, tennis, reading, shopping and working out.  She loves the atmosphere, the faculty, the students and the experience of being at a school that is continuously growing and being blessed by God.  Romans 8:28 is her favorite Bible verse.  “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

This is Mayra Atchley’s first year at Prattville Christian Academy .  She is teaching Spanish to our K-4 to 6th grades.  Mayra attended the University of Puerto Rico for 3 years.  She successfully completed the Paraprofessional Test required for the state of Florida .  Mayra is from Fajardo, Puerto Rico .  She has been married 14 years and her two children are Alex and Arianna.  Her hobby is scrap booking.  She also loves baseball and spending time with her husband and kids.  Mayra believes that she can make a difference in a child’s life, not only by teaching Spanish, but also adding Christ to their experience in her room.  Philippians 4:13 is Mayra’s favorite Bible verse.  “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”  Filipenses 4:13, “Todo lo puedo en Cristo que me fortalece.”

President &

 Elementary Principal

Ron Mitchell is proud to be the president of Prattville Christian Academy for the 6th year.   In addition, he serves as the elementary school principal.  Ron graduated from Texas Christian University with a B.S. in Sociology and also from University of Northern Colorado with a M.A. in Psychology.  He retired from the United States Air Force after 22 years.  Beautiful Colorado Springs , Colorado is where Ron hails from.  Ron has been married to Jennifer for 34 wonderful years.  They have two children, Stephanie married to John and Christopher married to Krista.  If you ask Ron who lights up his life, he will tell you his three grandchildren.  Stephanie’s children are Carlie (10) and Jackson (7) and they live in Houston , Texas .  Christopher’s child is Kiya (4) who lives here and attends PCA.  Ron’s hobbies are golf, traveling the world with Jennifer, spending time with grandchildren, singing and attending P.C.A. athletics.  The best things Ron likes about being at P.C.A. are the students, the staff and the Christian environment.  Ron’s favorite Bible verse is Matthew 22:37-38.  “Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  This is the first and greatest commandment.”

Leslie Cowell is the Elementary Assistant Principal.  Leslie grew up in Destin, Florida .  She and her husband moved to Prattville three years ago. Mrs. Cowell has taught fourth and fifth grade at P.C.A. and fourth grade at Destin Elementary in Destin , Florida prior to coming to P.C.A.  Leslie has a B.S. in Elementary Education from Auburn University and a M.Ed. in Reading Education from the University of West Florida .  She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at Auburn University in Elementary Education.  Some of her hobbies include running, spending time with family, and watching movies.  Leslie says that she loves the Christian atmosphere and the faculty at P.C.A.  One of her favorite parts of the Bible is the book of James.

Debbie is Prattville Christian Academy Elementary Counselor for PreK to 6th grade.  This is her 4th year.  She received a Nursing Degree from Mississippi Gulfcoast Junior College also from St Leo University she received a BA – Psychology.  Also Debbie attended Ambridge University with an MS – Marriage & Family Therapy.  She is licensed in Alabama as a Marriage & Family Therapist.  Debbie grew up in Nashville , Tennessee but now lives in Prattville .  Debbie and Jim make a great couple, they have good-looking sons and one beautiful daughter-in-law.  The family loves spending time at their lake house, and traveling with family.  Debbie also loves reading and gardening.  What Debbie likes best about being at P.C.A. is getting to know the students and their families.  They have such interesting stories and experiences.  Debbie’s favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 40:31.  “But those who trust in the Lord will receive new strength.  They will fly as high as Eagles, they will run and not get tired.  They will walk and not grow weak.”
